Note If the Smart Search application is not installed, a dialog box prompts you to install it when you click the Smart Search icon. To access the Smart Search window for an archived or live video stream, choose the video stream from the Camera Feeds or Video Archives lists in the VSOM Operator Pages, then click the Smart Search icon in the top right corner of a selected video pane. You use the Smart Search window to define parameters for the motion indexing process, to access Smart Search Advanced Settings window, to initiate the indexing process, and to view video that contains motion events. The following section provide detailed information about these general steps. Parameters that you can configure include the time period to analyze, specific areas in the video field to analyze, the amount of motion required to be considered a motion event, and others. Configure the parameters that Smart Search uses when creating the motion index. Designate the archived, live, or saved video in which you want to view motion events.Ģ. In general, using Smart Search involves these general steps:ġ. After the motion index is created, you can view the motion events by using the Smart Search video player or the VSOM operator page. The process also optionally saves a set of still images of motion events on your local hard drive. This indexing process analyzes designated video according to parameters that you specify, and creates a motion index, which identifies points in the video at which motion events occur. To identify motion events in a video, Smart Search uses an indexing process. A motion event is a segment of a video stream in which Smart Search detects motion according to criteria that you specify. Smart Search provides an efficient way to locate motion events in archived, live, or saved video. To do so, choose Start > All Programs > Cisco Video Surveillance and double-click SmartSearch. However, if you are using a PC that is running the Microsoft Windows 7 operating system and you are logged in as a user without Administrator privileges, you must start the SmartSearch service manually. In most cases, this service starts automatically. Before you can use the Smart Search feature, the SmartSearch service must be running on the PC that you are using.See "Configuring System Settings" section on page 6-18 for more information.
